- I have dealt with Fred (Alfred) Felix in the past little while, so I'd
- like to share a bit of my experience with him.
-
- I was (and still am) selling some Amiga soft/hardware last summer and
- fall, and Fred e-mailed me about a few items he was interested in. We
- agreed upon a certain deal, where he was to send me a money order (or
- cheque) for what he wanted. I received it and promptly sent out what he
- paid me for. Not too long after he wanted my A1010 3.5" external drive,
- and told me he would send out a money order. I told him to be sure to
- e-mail me when the MO had gone into the mail. After not hearing from him
- for some time, I e-mailed him a reminder. This went on for some time
- where he told me he would try to get the money together for it. At the
- time he was supposedly building a shed and it was running into a lot of
- money for materials. Anyway, I finally received the MO after weeks of
- sending him reminders (hey, I had the drive on reserve for him).
-
- More recent was a deal we agreed upon for some Amiga software I was
- selling. He told me he really wanted a couple of my games and to reserve
- them for him. I did, but again spent weeks (and I mean *weeks* if not
- *months*) sending him reminders (since I had them on reserve for him I
- figured I had the right to press him a bit about getting the money out to
- me). Anyway, towards the end I told him he had until such-and-such a
- date to tell me that the money order was actually in the mail, and if he
- didn't I would put the games back up for sale. I was trying to bend over
- backwards to accommodate him. When he didn't respond by the set date, I
- did indeed put the games back up for sale and sold them shortly
- afterwards. He finally e-mailed me to see if I had the games, and of
- course I told him I didn't. End of that story.
-
- I must say that I don't think Fred is trying to rip anyone off or do
- anyone an injustice, but he seems to have a hard time following through
- at times.
-
- I'm not suggesting that you don't deal with him at all, but do give him a
- deadline so he will be encouraged to follow through.
-
- And Fred, if you're reading this, please try following through promptly on
- deals that you make with people. And if you can't do it promptly, let
- them know so you don't keep them hangin'. You might be surprised how
- flexible some people can be if you're up front with them.
